Spring Whirlwind

Coming back from spring break, everything has been such a whirlwind! While it is good to be busy and working, between the FSView, the Democrat (as a new freelancer) and school... things are rather busy. My most recent assignment for the Democrat was FSU baseball about a week ago. I had a blast shooting this game, as I found a new area to shoot from - right behind home plate in a suite.
Here are some more photos from the game:

I will also be offering Graduation photos at very reasonable prices during the months of April and May for FSU students. Get in contact with me if you are interested.

More updates to come!

New Facebook Fan Page and Twitter Page

To start February off the right way, I decided to make a new facebook fan page for Melina's Photography. If you have facebook, join up! All photos from my upcoming assignments will be posted through that page. Also, if you like to tweet, follow Melina's Photography on Twitter and receive messages when new albums are up for viewing! Also, you never know... maybe you will be tweeted coupon codes or free print offers from my website.

Basketball picks up again this week, FSU plays Maryland Thursday at 9pm. Photos to come! Also, hopefully I will be able to shoot some tennis this weekend for the first time this season. I have also been offered the chance to shoot sports that I have not been able to cover in the past like Rugby and Ultimate Frisbee! I'll let you know how that goes ;)

Basketball in Full Swing!

Now that the spring semester is in full swing, so is Basketball here at FSU. Although football was a blast to be able to cover (including some NFL Games this season and the Gator Bowl <-- photos on my website) basketball surely holds its own as well. I recently picked up a new lens for my camera - a 17-55 2.8 Nikon lens. I was able to get a good deal on it so I snatched it up quickly. It allows me to go a little wider than the 35-70 2.8 lens which is what I was using previously for basketball and allows me to bring an interesting new look to my basketball photos, instead of the same looking photos from every game.

I'm working on experimenting with my new lens, especially at the 17mm mark to show basketball a little differently than I have in the past. It also produces extremely sharp images, so I can always crop in a bit if 55mm isn't enough on the long end.

Hopefully I can keep improving, but so far, I'm loving my new lens and pretty happy with the results it has produced.

========

I have also completely re-done my website. I think the new look is a lot cleaner and more professional. If any one has any suggestions to make it easier to navigate or find photos, I would really appreciate to hear them! I will make sure to update this a lot more often now with assignments that I shoot.

Adieu!
